Cat's claw (Uncaria tomentosa) is a tree-like vine that grows in central Latin America. The bark of the plant is mainly used as a medicinal raw material. Six alkaloids isolated from the bark of the liana stimulate the immune system of the body, activate phagocytosis. One of them, rhynchophyllin, prevents platelet aggregation and the formation of blood clots, which can be used to treat certain cardiovascular diseases.
It is characterized by anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antimicrobial, antioxidant effects.
